PERSONAL: Bruce SCRIVEN (AUS) (olympics.com.au, Jun 2016)

Reason: I made the state cross-country team in Year 6. (Athlete, Feb 2018)
Ambition: "Firstly, at Gold Coast I would love nothing more than to be on the podium - to win a medal at a home Games would be incredible. In the long term, breaking the four-minute barrier and Australian record." (Athlete, Jun 2017)
Memorable: "Running at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, in my first senior Australian team. I’ll never forget the feeling of walking out into that stadium." (Athlete, Jun 2017)
Hero: "Sarah JAMIESON (AUS) was Australia’s top 1500m runner when I was a junior and consequently someone I followed closely and looked up to a great deal. I’ve been lucky enough to have Sarah as part of my support team for quite a few years - an amazing mentor." (Athlete, Jun 2017)
Influence: "My college coach, Karen HARVEY, at Florida State University. I came home from college almost 14 seconds quicker, creating a pretty pivotal point in my athletics career. During this time I learned a lot about racing and being more professional in my approach to athletics." (Athlete, Jun 2017)
Ritual: "I always jog for eight minutes (when it's) 4.5 hours before my race, I have to have a hair ribbon that matches my race kit and always eat a bowl of rice four hours before, and a banana two hours before my race." (Athlete, Jun 2017)
Additional information

IMPROVEMENT
Leaped from 22nd to third on Australian all-time 1500m list in 2016. Remains less than one second from the national record of 4:00.93 held by Sarah JAMIESON (AUS), who coached her in 2010-11 prior to HALL (AUS) departing for college in the United States. JAMIESON (AUS) and HALL (AUS) are both Athletics Essendon members and Linden aims to beat the 1500m club record, which is also the all-time national record held by JAMIESON (AUS). (olympics.com.au, Jun 2016; Athlete, Feb 2018)

LEARNING
Spent four years on a sports scholarship at Florida State University in the United States from 2011-15. Return to Australia was challenging. "I found the biggest hurdle to be the absence of social support and structure to my training (in Australia). The team environment in the NCAA is unmatchable." (smh.com.au, 2 May 2016; runnerstribe.com, 21 Mar 2016)
