Reason: “I began like most kids do, through school cross-country when I was about 12 years old. I was also playing Australian football but started to get a few niggles and injuries. With running I didn’t start properly training with a coach until I was about 14/15, when I joined up with one of my best mates, Jack DAVIES, and began training with Rod GRIFFIN (AUS) and his stable of athletes in Ballarat.? Influence: Coach Nic BIDEAU (AUS) (runnerstribe.com, 5 Jan 2018)
Additional information

ISLANDER
Grew up on small Bass Strait island of King Island, population 1723. "I don’t think there is a better place for kids to grow up. I certainly miss the easy-going nature of the island but it’s always great when I get to go home and train on my family farm for a few weeks over Christmas." (runnerstribe.com, 5 Jan 2018)

STEPPING UP
Automatic selection for Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in 10,000m, following victory in Zatopek race in December 2017. "The Zatopek 10 (10,000m) had a little more significance this year due to it being the Commonwealth Games trial, so to perform so well against a loaded field of the best distance guys in Australia was extremely satisfying." (runnerstribe.com, 5 Jan 2018)

GC2018
"I’m extremely excited about the opportunity. Being able to compete in a major home championship has been something I have wanted to achieve since seeing the excitement of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games from the grandstands. Being the first King Islander going to the Commonwealth Games will be an enormous privilege for me and I know I will have a whole island behind me." (runnerstribe.com, 5 Jan 2018)
