Reason: "I was playing British Bulldog (a children's game) somewhere and luckily someone was passing and they saw I was quite quick. They told me to go to Sutton Arena. I met a coach there called Lesley ALDER. I was not amazing, but I was quite young and competing against people three years older than me, and I was putting down some quick times for my age. I first tried the hurdles, but it did not work out." (croydonguardian.co.uk, 09 Aug 2015)
Hero: Former sprinters Linford CHRISTIE (ENG), Michael JOHNSON (USA), Muhammad ALI (Athlete, 31 Jul 2008)
Influence: First coach Lesley ALDER. "I won my first national title when he was on his deathbed. From then on, every time I drive home past the house where he used to live, I say, 'Thanks Les'." (croydonguardian.co.uk, 09 Aug 2015)
