ASYLUM
In 2002, on way to compete at Kingston world juniors, Sudan team stopped off in Sheffield. Aged 14, he escaped the team. Claimed he was 20 and lived at  asylum seeker residences. Started training with current coach Carol WILLIAMS and married Sophie in 2008, a Middlesbrough girl he met through friends. Running for Sudan, he made three consecutive global 400m semifinals: Berlin 2009 and Daegu 2011 World Championships and London 2012 Olympic Games. In January 2013, spouse visa approved, making him eligible to represent Great Britain. Made 400m final at Beijing 2015 World Championships. (telegraph.co.uk, 12 Aug 15)


DEBUT
Debut for Great Britain in 2014 at European Championships, assisting them to gold in 4x400m relay. This resulted in him earning athlete funding from UK Athletics. TRIBUTE
Described his coach Carol WILLIAMS as a second mother, saying he owes her his life. She also helped him financially.
