Additional information

OLYMPIC AMBASSADOR
On her way back to New Zealand from the London 2012 Olympics, stopped to visit a school her mother taught at, talking to the students about her campaign. Inspired by the experience, the New Zealand Olympic Committee named her an Olympic Ambassador. (olympic.org.nz, 19 Jan 2018)

GREAT LOSS
Lost her best friend, Nicola, to cancer in the lead-up to the 2012 Olympics. Despite being in the middle of training, she flew home for the funeral. Went back to training after a week, determined to dedicate her achievement at the London Olympics to her friend. (olympic.org.nz, 19 Jan 2018)
