LEG CHANGE
A torn hip ligament and back injury in 2014 forced him to change his take-off power leg from right to left. “I had a lot of issues with that. I did not have confidence, I was always on the board shaking. I didn’t even want to compete any more, I just wanted to get out of the pool and run. Went back to right leg in mid-2015. (thestar.com, 10 Jul 2015)

EATING DISORDER
Struggled with anorexia and competed with condition until confiding in coach Aaron DZIVER (CAN) after 2013 World Championships in Barcelona. "Upon my return home, I was supported by a psychologist specialising in eating disorders. I would not tell this to anyone other than him. I was not comfortable to talk to my parents or friends - I was afraid they would judge me." condition is something he has to manage. "I have no more trouble but I'll always have to watch it. In my head, I say to myself, 'Once an anorexic, always an anorexic'." (ici.radio-canada.ca, 14 Jun 2016)
