Additional information

COMMONWEALTH FRUSTRATION
New Zealand have come agonisingly close to Commonwealth Games gold, but are still waiting. Their strongest performance was in Delhi 2010, facing off against fierce rivals Australia in the final. However, they could only draw 2-2 in normal time and lost 4-2 in the penalty shootout. Secured a bronze medal at Kuala Lumpur 1998 and Glasgow 2014, while finishing fourth at the other two Games (Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006). (bbc.co.uk)

OLYMPIC GAMES
The podium has eluded New Zealand's women at the Olympics, finishing fourth at London 2012 and Rio 2016. (bbc.co.uk)

WORLD CUP
Placed as high as fourth in the Hockey World Cup, in 1986. (Olympic News Service, 2016)
