Languages spoken: English, Swahili
Coach

NATIONAL: Kevin WAMBUA (KEN) (kru.co.ke, 13 Sep 2017)

Reason: "I joined the junior set-up of Mwamba RFC while I was still a young girl, playing in the mixed set-up with boys. However, girls have to stop playing with boys at a certain age. I played up until that point, but I was too young to join the women’s team straightaway. By the time I got to 18, I used to train alongside men, obviously just playing touch rules. As soon as we started talking through match scenarios, I got chased away after beating up boys." (citizentv.co.ke, 16 Nov 2017)
Hero: "I used to look at the newspapers and saw photos of rugby players like (Collins) INGERA (KEN) getting awards and I told myself that one day I would want to be like him." (capitalfm.co.ke, 2 Nov 2017)
Influence: "Teammate, Philadelphia OLANDO (KEN). Phila taught me and instilled confidence in what I do today." (citizentv.co.ke, 16 Nov 2017)
Additional information

NATIONAL INTRODUCTION
"I started playing rugby while in form two at Butere Girls and we used to come to Nairobi annually to play in the Safari Sevens tournament. The former captain (Aberdeen SHIKHOYI) saw me and urged me to come try out (for the national team). When I came, the coach had faith in me and that’s how I started out." (capitalfm.co.ke, 2 Nov 2017)

NATIONAL FIRST
First player to score a try for the Kenyan women's sevens team. (shujaapride.com, 2016)

LIFE LESSONS
"I credit the sport with lifelong lessons, which I have successfully applied in my career and personal life. Rugby has taught me leadership skills, how to be a strong, confident and independent woman and team worker." (citizentv.co.ke, 16 Nov 2017)
