COMMONWEALTH GAMES
Samoa have come close to a medal on three occasions, but are still to make the podium. At Kuala Lumpur 1998, they lost to Australia in the bronze medal match, 33-12. At Manchester 2002 it was the same story, losing to South Africa in a much closer affair, 19-12. At Glasgow 2014, they were unbeaten in the group stage and defeated England 15-14 in the quarterfinals. However, they were outplayed by South Africa in the semifinals, losing 35-7, before Australia won the bronze medal match 24-0. (glasgow2014.com, 27 Jul 2014; ur7s.com, 2017)

WORLD CUP
Placed fourth twice at the World Cup (1997, 2009). Most recently, they finished sixth in 2013. (worldrugby.org, 2017)
