Dengue fever. Kept her out of competition for two and a half years. Returned January 2017. (scottishsquash.org, 7 Feb 2018; thenational.scot, 19 Jan 2018)

Reason: "At the age of 10 I entered my first junior tournament in Aberdeen. Winning straight sets in the final I was spotted by Pat NICOL, the former Scottish national coach and father to Peter NICOL, a previous world no.1." (blog.lucybee.co, 27 Jan 2014)
Ambition: Qualifying for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and reaching the world's top 20." (thenational.scot, 4 Aug 2017)
Additional information

THE COMEBACK
During two and a half years out of competition, she analysed her training and made changes. "I am a better player now than before my illness when I was ranked 38 in the world. Before (the illness), I’d do so much training each week - maybe only about 50 per cent of it was beneficial, but all I’d be thinking was about the volume of training. It’s hard to get used to less being more and that’s something I’m still battling with. (scottishsquash.org, 7 Feb 2018; thenational.scot, 19 Jan 2018)

CONFIDENCE
Strongly hoping for a medal with mixed doubles partner Kevin MORAN (SCO) at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. "At the selection tournament in Manchester, we beat the silver medallists from the World Championships and the last Commonwealth Games twice, so we’ve gone from thinking that we’re very lucky to be in contention, to now thinking that a medal is a realistic prospect." (thenational.scot, 19 Jan 2018)

SWITCH
Decided to leave Scottish Squash and represent England in 2013. "England, for as long as I can remember, have run the best program any country has seen, and therefore has produced the best players the circuit has seen. This was something I had to be part of, to better myself and to get the most out of my sporting life as I could." (blog.lucybee.co, 27 Jan 2014)
