Additional information

Announced in September 2016 that he was leaving long-term coach, Michael BOHL. Spent four months trialling replacements, including Ian THORPE’S (AUS) mentor Tracey MENZIES (AUS) in Canberra. Decided to join Simon CUSACK (AUS), who has been coaching the Campbell sisters (Cate and Bronte). (, 28 Jan 2017)

Previously studied engineering at Central Queensland University, helping him understand forces such as flotation, lift and balance in swimming. "Take Newton's third law - for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Sometimes certain muscles become tight from training and my technique isn't looking as good as it should. We go back and, analysing my stroke in slow motion, often find that tight area is causing a delay in my stroke as there is another area trying to counter-balance it. It’s fascinating how everything is connected." (, 10 Aug 2016)

Olympic rings tattoo on his left hip. (, May 2016)

Named 2015 FINA Male Swimmer of the Year. (, 1 Feb 2016)
