Additional information

DEFEATING IDOL
When former star swimmer, Leisel JONES (AUS), won her first Olympic gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, PICKETT was just an eight-year-old who wrote a letter to her favourite swimmer. A decade later, PICKETT became a Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist after defeating her childhood idol to win the 50m breaststroke. "In Grade 4 (at Mudgeeraba State School on the Gold Coast) I wrote her a fan letter. I remember saying, 'I want to be just like you one day and my name (Leiston Jane) is almost like yours.' Now I think back and I am quite embarrassed about it." (theaustralian.com.au, 6 Oct 2010)

UNIVERSIADE
Took silver in the 50m breaststroke at the 29th Summer Universiade in Chinese Taipei in August 2017. (2017.taipei, 30 Aug 2017)
