ILLNESS
Has to manage the ulcerative colitis diagnosed after the London 2012 Olympic Games, a condition that affected British rower Sir Steven REDGRAVE, who spoke to her about it. "He is a sporting legend, so for him to come to talk things through made me feel so much better. He has been through it and is the best Olympian ever. It shows you can get through it, that was the biggest message." (telegraph.co.uk, 10 Aug 2016)
SHOOTING
Was at the Northern Arizona University campus, with Team Bath training partners, in October 2015 when a student shot four other students, killing one. "Thankfully we were safe, but it was really scary and incredibly sad seeing all the students so upset." (telegraph.co.uk, 6 Jan 2016)
