Injuries

Could not maintain her weight in the second half of 2011 and all of 2012, due to ulcerative colitis. (bbc.co.uk, 2 Dec 2012)

Reason: "I began swimming competitively at age 10, I used to compete in gymnastics and really enjoyed that. I chose to pursue swimming when I didn't have time to do both." (fina.org, Apr 2017)
Ambition: "I will be 24 at Tokyo 2020 (Olympics), so fingers crossed I will win more medals. One day I want to beat my Hungarian rival, Katinka HOSSZU. She holds the world record, but I'm just going to keep on chasing." (skysports.com, 28 Jun 2017)
Memorable: "Winning a silver medal at the (Rio) 2016 Olympic Games." (teambath.com, 10 Aug 2016)
Hero: British swimmer, Rebecca ADLINGTON (bbc.co.uk, 2 Dec 2012)
Additional information

ILLNESS
Has to manage the ulcerative colitis diagnosed after the London 2012 Olympic Games, a condition that affected British rower Sir Steven REDGRAVE, who spoke to her about it. "He is a sporting legend, so for him to come to talk things through made me feel so much better. He has been through it and is the best Olympian ever. It shows you can get through it, that was the biggest message." (telegraph.co.uk, 10 Aug 2016)

SHOOTING
Was at the Northern Arizona University campus, with Team Bath training partners, in October 2015 when a student shot four other students, killing one. "Thankfully we were safe, but it was really scary and incredibly sad seeing all the students so upset." (telegraph.co.uk, 6 Jan 2016)
