PERSONAL: Jamie TURNER (AUS) (Athlete, Nov 2017)

Additional information

Watched her father, Frank, complete the Hawaii Ironman event in 2001, which had a profoundly positive influence on her. (, Nov 2017)

"Born and raised in Scotland, Charlotte emigrated to Australia with her family in 2005, in search of a lifestyle change. Moved to Bairnsdale in country Victoria, and with the more suitable climate, began to take her triathlon more seriously." (, Nov 2017)

Relocated to Jamie TURNER'S squad in Wollongong in 2010. The Wizards are stacked with internationals and has included Rio 2016 Olympic champion, Gwen JORGENSEN (USA).

In the Rio 2016 Olympic qualifying race on the Gold Coast in 2016, was elbowed in the head during the swim leg. Fought hard to overcome the setback, but eventually finished outside an automatic Olympic nomination position and missed out on selection. "That race was a disaster, and I gave myself 24 hours to feel sorry for myself." (, 7 Mar 2017)

"I’m really bad in the heat, collapsing three times from heat exhaustion. I did tons of heat studies and preparation for racing in hot weather. I spent a lot of time at the Australian Institute of Sport doing training in the heat lab." The 2016 World Triathlon Grand Prix was held in the stifling heat of Cozumel in Mexico. As race day approached, McSHANE was nervous, but had a plan and it worked out well, as she placed third. (, 7 Mar 2017)

Won the London 2013 U23 World Championships. "I’ve been training really well for the past few years, but haven’t quite put it into performance, so I just cannot believe I managed to do it. I guess that’s the most special thing to me, is some of the names that have won this before and that’s when it really sinks in." Won a second world title as a member of the mixed Australian relay team at the Hamburg 2017 World Championships. "I feel like there is a lot more pressure because you aren’t just racing for yourself, you are racing for your whole team, but it is definitely so much fun to come out here and win together." (, 12 Sep 2013 and 16 Jul 2017)
