Occupation: Student and postman (stuff.co.nz, 06 Jul 2017)
Education: Business at Massey University (stuff.co.nz, 06 Jul 2017)
Other sports

New Zealand national judo champion in various weight groups. (stuff.co.nz, 06 Jul 2017)

"I've played representative football, tennis and swimming. I've also competed in judo, winning the New Zealand championship six times. I earned my black belt in Shotokan karate after 11 years in the sport." (Athlete, Feb 2018)

Reason: "From a young age I loved fighting and wrestling with my dad. I kept urging him to take me to a wrestling club. He took me up one day, aged 9, and from then on I've loved the sport and have tried many other martial arts, too." (Athlete, Feb 2018)
Ambition: "Commonwealth Games has always been a massive goal and dream since watching athletes on TV. I was always in awe of them and wished to be on TV competing at the Games. I have worked hard to improve a little bit every day to make it to these Games and it has become a reality. I would love to represent New Zealand at an Olympic Games, as not many wrestlers have had the chance." (Athlete, Feb 2018)
Memorable: "I wrestled at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics, which was a hugely memorable event for me, and my first major international. It was extremely humbling to be among the best athletes in the world at such a young age. The experience was amazing." (Athlete, Feb 2018)
Hero: "My hero and biggest influence would have to be my Dad, Paul. He is the most hard-working person I know and has never doubted me or my potential. He has been my role model and teaches me in little ways each day, which I treasure." (Athlete, Feb 2018)
Ritual: "I'm quiet and focused before competition. I listen to up-beat music." (Athlete, Feb 2018)
